Honest Rohto Eye Drops Review By A Real User

rohto eye drops review title

I first heard about the Rohto Brand when I was shopping around for the best thing to deal with red, tired eyes and got some samples from my doctor.

Most of the time I am up and staring at a screen all day working and then all night as well, playing around or reading online. I keep long hours and often don’t get a lot of sleep. When you put all this together it leads to my eyes getting tired, irritated(red) and dry. Read on for my Rohto eye drops review and ingredient list.

Rohto Z! PRO Review

These babies are the cream of the crop, power level 7 of 7. They will refresh your eyes like nobodies business and get rid of 100% of eye redness with just a drop or two.

They will give your eyes a stinging sensation for 10-20 seconds but afterwards your eyes will be minty fresh. To be honest, the stinging isn’t that bad, maybe more of a shock the first time I used them but subsequent times it wasn’t that bad and I even kind of like it, like it is burning away all the tiredness in my eyes and leaving me fresh and clean.

After use, I’m good for several hours and generally don’t have to put them in more than once because they do the job the first time.

These are your ultimate red removers and tired eye treaters. If you think you might be a bit timid though you might want to start with a bit lower power rating, but if you want results and to make your eyes feel awesome go for Z! Pro.

Want the basic version? OK! Are you tired? Z! will slap your eyes awake. Sore, red eyes? Z! will heal your wounds and scrub them until they are white as freshly fallen snow. “Smoke” or other allergens bugging you? Z! will send them packing.

Use Rohto Z! Pro for - the ultimate fresh eye experience. Total red removal, an extreme refreshing feeling and the feeling of chugging coffees for your tired eyes. Use them for just about anything.

About the Rohto Product Line

The Rohto product line comes in different power levels from 1 (least powerful) to 7 (most powerful) and that should be your main factor to consider when deciding which type of drops you will need.

Now be warned, at a high level, these drops work really well, they will get rid of ALL your redness and gritty feeling quickly and for a good long time but the initial application has a bit of a kick and maybe even sting a bit the first few times you use them.

The whole experience is a lot like what chewing spearmint gum is for morning breath; when you first start chewing you can feel the mintyness go to work and start cleaning out the grossness in your mouth except the same thing will be happening in your eyes. With more powerful drops you get a more powerful, and I think better, effect like if you breath in cold air or drink ice water right after you chew that gum, very refreshing. It really wakes up your eyes and actually made me feel more alert and focused for a while as well.

You won’t have to drown your eyes with 5-6 drops, these things will really get the job done so make sure if you’ve been using other brands of eye drops in the past that you stick with just 1-2 drops the first time you use these and go from there. Along with the small amount you use each time, they last for hours so you don’t have to be constantly putting drops in which gets really annoying.

Many people I talk to really hate having to put drops in so it is a good bonus to the Rohto line. Since they are so effectiv,e one little bottle goes a long way and it really makes up for the price, which is a bit higher than your typical drug store drops. Rohto has been making eye drops for over 100 years, it is quality over quantity right here.

Some common complaints about eye drops that you won’t have to worry about with Rohto are that they pool on top of the eye rather than absorbing and that the dropper bottle doesn’t work very well and it is hard to apply and to get the right amount. With all Rohto products, the bottle/applicator design is totally genius and flows from any angle; I absolutely love it. It helps everything get to the right spot and absorb quickly and easily.

It is important to note, these eye drops will not mix with contact lenses unless specifically mentioned, they’re not artificial tears, so be sure you remove your contacts before using the drops and wait 15 minutes before you put them back in.

As a final tip for an extremely refreshing experience try storing your eye drops in the fridge before use, the results are incredible!

Relief is the product touted for allergy relief and Ice the one for removing red eye and tiredness targeted at the indoor crowd. They will work, but it is certainly nothing like the Z! Pro.

These two are the best of the North American line, which includes: Cool, Arctic, Ice, Hydra and Relief. All are available OTC (over the counter) without a prescription.

Ice and Relief are pretty similar despite the marketing and the best two, both will remove redness effectively and give you that refreshed feeling that is the signature of Rohto products but the power level is more like a 4 although it isn’t official as with the superior Japanese lines.

These are also a fantastic choice for people outside, doing things like outdoor construction work, gardening and running especially in dry and dusty conditions.

Rohto Hydra Review

Use Hydra for – dry eyes >>Get Your Rohto Hydra Drops HERE!

The Hydra line is specifically for dry eyes and don’t remove redness or give that refreshing feeling. However they can be used freely and don’t sting at all. These are the artificial tear product which will be good if you are a sufferer of dry eyes but not redness, gritty eye or tired eyes. Some causes of dry eyes include: Medications, a dry environment, aging or excessive computer work.

Rohto Cool and Arctic Review

These two are natural tears with red eye remover as well, with Cool being the weaker power around a 2/7 and Arctic being the stronger power about a 3/7. They will deal with more minor cases of red eye as well as lubrication but also have a taste of the refreshing feeling you get from that Rohto power. If you were a bit gun shy about the stinging you can test these two out your first time to see how things go and decide if you like the feeling and want to move up to the higher power levels.
